Tale of The Thing Cleaning up Plastic in the Oceans

This story crossed my path 3 years ago now, and it sounds like the project is still going strong.  Since 2013, a non profit group started by an 18 year old in the Netherlands, have been busy cleaning up plastic from the ocean's 5 garbage patches, and 1,000 most polluting rivers.  The

Forest Giants

 

I saw this video in April, 2021, and thought, wow.  A man singlehandedly planted a forest of nearly 840 acres in the middle of a barren desert island, creating a regenerative landscape. What I like most about this is the man's commitment to continue planting more forest, and protect the forest he planted, for as long as he lives.

    I came across this video in 2013 and have never forgotten since what an incredible hope it inspired in me. This film, called 'Return To The Forest', describes the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation initiative in Thailand to introduce domestic Asian elephants into wild forests, where elephants had virtually disappeared. By 2017 the initiative had seen 21 elephant births in the wild, and had released 100 elephants over 3 large forest sanctuaries.  What struck me deepest was how the elephants, as a keystone species, revitalized the health of the forest ecology through migration, feeding, and social behaviors.
